UPDATE from NBC
Dozens Hurt by Strikes Near Gaza's Shifa Hospital, Refugee Camp
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip -- An Israeli strike hit within yards of Gaza's main hospital on Monday. The attack near Shifa Hospital around 5 p.m. local time (10 a.m. ET) caused some damage to the outpatient clinic, according to witnesses including an NBC News crew on the ground in the area. There was no immediate confirmation of deaths or injuries.
A second strike occurred at the Al-Shati refugee camp in northern Gaza. At least 30 dead and wounded were brought to Shifa hospital in civilian cars, motorbikes and in ambulances.
Israel has been criticized for several strikes which hit hospitals in the Gaza Strip during its recent offensive. Last week, charity Medecins Sans Frontieres said health workers in Gaza were coming under fire and urged Israel to stop its strikes. The United Nations also Israel may have committed war crimes by shelling hospitals and civilian houses where it claims Hamas is hiding personnel and rockets.

(17,174 posts)Oh, our Ambassador might be dispatched to deliver a message of disapproval (which Bibi will laugh at), or we might send a strongly-worded letter (which Bibi will use for toilet paper), but past that -- nothing. The tail has been wagging the dog in our "special relationship" for some time now, and the dog seems to have decided it likes it that way.

(85,986 posts). . . one shell landed in the compound (not the building itself) and Palestinian sources have reported varying accounts of casualties.
Hopefully we can get more corroborating sources.

(17,064 posts)The hospitals are crammed full of wounded and dead bodies (since the morgues are also full). And the doctors and staff are living there round the clock. Its very doubtful they are making room for militia, even if they had room. This is another Israeli lie, intended to justify war crimes. Their goal, is simply to collectively punish the Gazan population.

(17,064 posts)... in those few instances and had them removed, to finish the part of the story you omitted. Why would they then allow them back? If Hamas militia is forcing their way, then are not the civilians hostages? Isn't the goal of a hostage situation to save the lives of hostages? Israel is not doing so, they're simply slaughtering everyone in the vicinity. They're even targeting ambulances taking injured children to hospitals. Its a war crime... indiscriminate killing.... no matter the lies and feeble excuses Israel (and their supporters) spew forth.

CNN claims the strikes were carried about by Israeli drones. Their source is a 10 year old boy who said he heard the drone.

(13,184 posts)This is just like when it hit the hospital last week, tried to blame it on Hamas, then finally admitted it was one its mortar shells that hit the courtyard, but bizarrely claimed no one was there. I just watched CNN's Karl Penhaul (?) explain that there were indeed pools of blood all over the place and that the Israel video didn't show shaded areas of the courtyard (where presumably people trying to avoid the afternoon sun would be).
I'd say Israel's claim of precision strikes has some problems. Either they're not very precise, or they're deliberately targeting the civilian population.
