The 4th circuit, VA, NC, SC, WV, and, MD

just ruled, 2 to 1 in favor of marriage equality. Unfortunately the decision was stayed pending appeal so only MD has legal marriage now. http://equalitync.org/marriage/

The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Virginia just became the second one this summer to strike down a state ban against same-sex marriage Monday, July 28, making it more likely that the Supreme Court will settle the issue as early as next year. Please be patient as we continue to update this page with the latest information.

retires or leaves the bench for some other reason before then.

I don't like leaving the decision on something this important up to chance.
