(99,556 posts)No alcohol and 20% tip. We ended up spending $70 out of pocket for the two of us. Great food and atmosphere. We might have been the only D's in the place.
I hope she doesn't win another one.

(82,849 posts)Class action suits are fairly useless for everyone except the lawyers involved. The alternative, however, is that big multinational with millions of customers gets to rip off those customers for piddling amounts with impunity. If there is a better system that guarantees the due process rights of these bandits, I'm sure the plaintiffs' bar would love to hear it.

(6,261 posts)I've never bothered registering or cashing in on my "$5 off an HP printer cartridge" coupon or whatever it is. I usually have a vague recollection of having bought something like the product in question, but it's never been worth my time pursuing. And yes, as usual, the lawyers make out rather better.
I usually find a few of those notice of court filings lying around the house, unclaimed, during spring cleaning.

(6,145 posts)It seems I'm forever receiving class action notices and only once in a while does a check show up. Always pocket change.

(99,556 posts)Actors hang out there. IF you get a residual check for less than $1 it is good for a free drink. They put it up on the wall. The checks are several layers deep after 50 years in business.

(60,010 posts)Wow.
My ship came in last year.
After Decades of ripping off customers, Allstate settled for doing something that I still can't understand, and I got a letter explaining, in the most tortuous language, how my 3.00 settlement check was determined.
The lawyers $14 million checks of course was not explained.
The check is still in a drawer..I figure it will cost them a hell of lot more in balancing their books if I don't cash it.
