Texas AG: 'ban on same-sex marriage promotes childbirth"

The stupid is strong in this one.

"Texas’ ban on same-sex marriage allows the state to promote the birth and upbringing of children in “stable, lasting relationships”, the state’s attorney general argued Tuesday while asking a federal appeals court to reinstate the ban.

Attorney general Greg Abbott, the Republican nominee for governor, said the views of ban opponents could be considered “rational”. But he argued that Texas voters have the right under the US constitution’s equal protection clause, the same amendment often cited by ban opponents, to define marriage in a way that best supports children.

“There are good, well-meaning people on both sides,” he wrote to the fifth US circuit court of appeals, echoing previous sentiments in the case. But he argued that opposite-sex couples are better suited to have and raise children, and thus help reduce “societal costs”.

“Because same-sex relationships do not naturally produce children, recognizing same-sex marriage does not further these goals to the same extent that recognizing opposite-sex marriage does,” the brief said."

better adjusted, informed, mature and intelligent than in a so called traditional household.

I have NO doubt about this.

The reasoning for this is simple, most Gay people have had to become liberal and progressive and open and informed to survive, and these are all vastly superior characteristics to almost anything else.

MARRY SOMEONE TO BEAR CHILDREN?!?!?!?!?

IS THAT ALL MARRIAGE IS ABOUT!?!?!?!?!?

People like you make me SICK! You are trying to use BIOLOGY, which is different in EVERY COUPLE to deprive people of legal rights, financial security, and personal choice.

You are beneath contempt.

However a "one drop" mentality that seems to permeate the RW, the preference would be for both to be white. I heard someone say that they thought gay white people were betraying their race.

I feared I would get confirmation that she sees people who aren't white basically as animals and doesn't care what they do. She is not quite a relative, but close. I have never heard anything as vile as stuff she says from any of the most disgusting RW media personalities.

If it's someone you don't have the option of cutting out of your life, it can be better to avoid creating an intolerable situation that might cause a hurt to a third party.

I have those sorts of minefields in my own extended family, and it's not fun....

Since many won't be the right colour I really have to wonder if they've thought this through.

There's already far too many kids trapped in CPS/foster care because they were born to parents who weren't able or willing to care for them, and a stable relationship is just one factor of many. Encouraging "life, no matter how miserable" is a big factor, too.
