Is the "dark side" winning??

Can the truth overcome lies and propaganda?

Can the oppressed overcome the aggressors?

Can the deaths of small children continue to be ignored?

Can primitive weapons overcome sophisticated bombs?

Can the screams be heard?

Are you on the side of the right and the light?

and declarative victory.

America historically convulses between good and evil, with good surfacing between periods of war, something that requires personal sacrifice. But this era seems different. The greed, concentration of power and indifference to quality of life by both political parties is extraordinary.

There is a cold, popular indifference to human suffering today that is frightening. We witnessed the indifference as hundreds of thousands were slaughtered in Iraq. For what? Where were the calls for impeachment, then? Where was our moral backbone? I guess Gallup polls showed it wasn't politically convenient to make a fuss about it.

The rich are worshiped, the poor are spit upon and those in the middle are expected to pay for the consequences of this foolish polarization.

We are militarizing local police forces at an unprecedented scale. While liberalizing marriage law, political leadership grants NSA power to spy on your wedding (and medical history, phone calls, voting record, internet posts, email, charge cards, etc).

We are working harder than anytime in history and getting paid less for it.

Perhaps its a form of political entropy we are experiencing, a decay of those intangibles necessary for a good quality of life - access to quality health care, education, healthy food, freedom of speech (free speech zones don't count), equitable justice system, fair pay, etc.

Meanwhile, the rich spiral into self-obsession, flaunting their wealth as an entitlement without a hint empathy for the many non-rich people holding the infrastructure together that makes their wealth possible.

Ironically, it is mostly the rich who complain, whining about how hard it is to get by on a few million a year, how hard it is to be rich in America. The rich howl and scream until our nursemaids in Congress rush in to suckle the poor babes on the worn out teats of the middle class.

To answer your question, the majority have chosen a selfish path of inevitable destruction. They are gambling they'll get theirs and check out before their own shit hits the fan.
