Five men charged with torturing, killing two Michigan women

Five men were charged with murder on Saturday in the abduction, torture and killing of two Michigan women.

The victims -- 18-year-old Abreeya Brown and 22-year-old Ashley Conaway -- were taken on Feb. 28 from their home in Hamtramck at gunpoint and were stuffed in the trunk of a car, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement on Saturday.

The young women were found on March 25 in a shallow grave in a wooded area of northwest Detroit, both bound and shot in the head.

The five charged with their murder, all from Detroit, are Brandon Cain, 26, Miguel Rodriguez, 24, Reginald Brown, 24, Jeremy Brown, 19, and Brian Lee, 25.

Things like this happen every day all over the U.S.

Posting this would make sense if this were a crime sheet or gore porn site, but I just can't see any value to just cut & paste this here. We could fill DU every day with this kind of stuff and I was asking the poster to fill in the reason, that's all.

5. I wonder if this is related to two similar incidents in Detroit late last year

In both of those incidents, two women were found dead in car trunks.

If I understand this correctly (and I'm not sure I do - the story was rather poorly written), they should have had police protection after the first attack in February. Why didn't they? Why were the assailant(s) not in custody either?
