Gaza Crisis: 'Captured' Israeli Soldier Died In Airstrike On His Captors, Claim Hamas

Israel claimed that Second Lieutenant Hadar Goldin was kidnapped by Hamas an hour after a 72-hour humanitarian ceasefire was meant to come into effect.

Hamas denied holding the 23-year-old and instead claims it lost contact with its fighters following a clash in southern Gaza.

Their statement read: "We believe all members of this group have died in an [Israeli] strike, including the Zionist soldier the enemy says disappeared."

The Foreign Office was looking into claims that Lt Goldin held joint Israeli-British citizenship, although Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said "no evidence" had been found to confirm this.

reported all over the world. I had a lay-over in an airport yesterday and that was all you could hear blasting on the airport screens from CNN and Wolf. Will the allegation by Hamas get as much coverage?

Don't hold your breath.

... bulldozing occupied Palestinian homes, killing innocents, thwarting UN sanctions and thumbing its nose at its US terrorist sponsor US, purveyor of money, weaponry, and anti-Muslim hatred. And everything Israel purports is the unvarnished truth, never intended to support the Israeli narrative

Muslim terrorism, even 9/11, is blowback from US-Israeli actions.

tragic death on Netanhayu's plate.

So I guess Hamas was telling the truth that they did not kidnap the soldier, unless you don't believe Israel's confirmation of course.

Hard to lie about something like this. Family members demand the facts. But the lie from Netanyahu served its purpose, the Cease Fire was violated by him while the world, for a short time, believed the lie.

Israel would have retaliated whether the soldier was kidnapped or killed. (Two other soldiers were killed).

Rational thinking would require answers to the following question:

If the Israelis knew Goldin was dead and they were lying about it, why would they then disclose his death later? Why not persist in the "lie" and make it seem as if Hamas had him?

And Hamas' story that Goldin was killed by an air strike is ludicrous. The israeli forces encounter an attack (something Hamas has admitted occurred) in the course of destroying a tunnel and miraculously an air strike is arranged in a matter of seconds while the fight between the Israeli forces and Hamas is ongoing?

I note that Hamas has never denied that its attackers included a suicide bomber.

occurred before the cease fire. However, if it was a matter of minutes and they were in the middle of an encounter, that was not reason to violate the cease fire, IF peace is the goal of Israel. But pretty much everyone knows now that peace if definitely not Netanyahu's goal.

Today, Walla confirmed via the IDF that Goldin is dead. At first the army only admitted it knew this based on “DNA evidence.” But I believed it had his body. This was confirmed by this subsequent Ynet report that it did have his body and that his funeral would be tomorrow. It is critical that there be an autopsy to determine the cause of his death. But I don’t believe the IDF will allow it because it knows what it will find.

In the hours following his capture, the IDF bombarded Rafah with heavy artillery and from the air in order to both take vengeance for the ambush which killed two senior officers; and to kill Goldin. Over 60 Gazans died. Though the IDF conceded Godin is dead. But it did not concede that it killed him and did so deliberately. That is why the army censor warned the Times about its reporting. Here is how the Times public editor reported it today:

He's not a reporter. And that the idea he has inside information about how Goldin died is laughable on its face. This piece of work is the guy who derided an African-American supporter of Israel as a "Negro" Zionist and an "Uncle Tom."
