Why do conservatives despise the United Nations ?

I really don't get it. It has NO real power over the US. The UN cannot force the US to do anything, from what I know. Have we been chastised in the UN ? Yes. I guess that's the big beef of conservatives with the UN. Also, the US consistently refuses to submit to the International Criminal Court (which is not a UN body). Your thoughts please.

also some believe that:
The U.N. charter was authored by a communist, the first U.N. Secretary-general was a communist, and the U.N., from the beginning, was designed to be a Union of World Socialist Republics.

that may have lead to an initial loss of credibility for the United Nations for some groups.

Anything "cooperative" is "social" therefore "Socialism". You don't need a brain to be a conservative, in fact, it's probably a drawback!

Just in cerebral cortexes. They have functional brainstems to keep their hearts going, and their amygdalas and thalamuses (amygdalæ & thalami?) work just fine to keep those rage & fear neurotransmitters flowing.

the UN suggests that the United States is one country among many other countries. According to their ideology, America is in a class by itself.

We should never have to compromise with other countries.
They should just do what we say or we bomb them out of existence.

That's the conservative view.

It wants to do something to help the poor and those suffering in war.

Republicans don't like that.

Also, the paranoid evangelical wing of the party thinks it interferes with their desire to bring on Armageddon.

Would arguably make wars less likely and more likely to end quicker when something boils over.

... according to Republicans, particularly an entity that could potentially seek to stop a Republican President from having the US do anything it wants.

So the Republicans purposefully weaken the UN and also at the same time complain that it is too weak to do anything.
