Hannity Apparently Upset Colbert Suggested 5-Year-Old Replace Him

Stephen Colbert on Wednesday lauded the star of this week's viral video, in which an adorable 5-year-old child "apparently" makes his first live television appearance.

But in doing so, Colbert deeply offended Fox News' Sean Hannity.

Colbert calls the child a "natural-born newsman" and jokes that he is leaving the "Colbert Report" because "news anchor babies like this are breathing down my neck."

"At 5 years old, he’s already got the sincerity of Edward R. Murrow, the reassuring gaze of Walter Cronkite and more gravitas than Steve Doocy," Colbert said.

Colbert also noted that he already has his own "apparently" catchphrase.

"That is the sort of senseless repetition that marks a real news legend like Sean Hannity," Colbert said before playing clips of Hannity reporting from Israel constantly using the word "literally."

"Apparently, that 5-year-old child could replace Sean Hannity," Colbert said.

Hannity expressed outrage with Colbert during a Wednesday interview with TVNewser.

Newser mentioned the Colbert segment and asked Hannity to address how he deals with comedians poking fun at him.

"First of all, he’s not as funny as Jon Stewart. Stephen Colbert will have the lowest-rated late night show. There are issues that just aren’t funny. Terrorism isn’t funny. I didn’t see the bit. I won’t see it. I don’t care," Hannity responded.

"Maybe Stephen Colbert needs to come over here and get a dose of reality. He sits in the comfort of his studio, reading jokes written for him by 30 writers," he continued. "So, I have a challenge for Stephen Colbert: I’ll pay for your flight. I’ll pay for your hotel, your meals. Then you sit on the border. You talk to the people. You sit across from the mother of an Israeli solider who was killed, and then make a joke about it."

1432 Days Since Promising To Undergo 'Dunking' For Charity
POSTED BY ELLEN -1639.40PC ON MARCH 24, 2013 · FLAG
Sean Hannity is still calling waterboarding "dunking." So why, then, has he not fulfilled his promise to prove that point and undergo it himself for charity? It has been nearly four years -or 3 years, 11 months and 2 days - since Hannity made that vow to Charles Grodin on April 22, 2009.

Below is a video (from our friends at Crooks and Liars) showing Hannity's promise to undergo waterboarding - plus Keith Olbermann's offer to add $1,000 to charity for every second Hannity tolerates the process.

You can email Hannity via his website and let him know he may want to forget his promise but we won't!

but Hannity wishes he could be popular with the young, hip generation. Hannity's supporters go to bed at 8:30, collect Medicare, and probably use his show as background noise.

but isn't that what he does every night on his show?

BTW, nice bait-and-switch there, Hannity. Colbert's pointing out what a joke you are, not joking about terrorism.

- Because there is an ever so-slight difference, you know? Being upset can be an unliteral experience. And you might not even notice it yourself when an unliteral upsetting is going-on. Sometimes you might hear a buzzing sound or maybe have a little gas.

But if he really means he's upset and he's literally upset and it's -- The Whole Megillah -- then it's not a fake upsetting. See what I mean??? Literally, how else can we know????

Hannity is inviting more ridicule, and he thrives on the ridicule because it beats being ignored. It's win-win - we who know he's an idiot get some laughs, and those who don't get to imagine he's important and being persecuted.

of a soldier. He never has and never will. And anyone, Hello Hannity, who do think he pokes fun at dead soldiers doesn't understand Colbert's humor when he does joke about the insanity of war. Republicans have no sense of humor. They don't get how a joke works. Faux tried their hand at a Colbert-like show and it failed even though if ratings are to be believed, Faux News is a ratings monster. So, they had a built in audience and failed. How? Because RW nutbags don't get humor.

Oh Sean, you can claim as much solidarity with Israeli widows and mothers as you want, but please stop pretending that you don't have a stake in the violence, in war, and in any bloodshed you see in order to boost your ratings.

Sean's like a shark in that respect, he sees blood that he can use, and he runs to it.

Of course, sharks are intelligent creatures and are also important parts of the ecosystem. So he's not like a shark in every other respect.
