Be afraid to go back in the water... very afraid...
Vibrio thrives in warm water and this naturally occurring bacteria is striking those with open wounds or weaker immune systems with 32 hospitalized in the state.
But in the ocean waters and the Gulf Of Mexico, a naturally-occurring bacteria called vibrio vulnificus has state health officials issuing an alert after a 10th person died this month in the State from an infection from the rare flesh-eating bacteria... http://www.cbs12.com/news/top-stories/stories/officials-warn-flesheating-bacteria-treasure-coast-waters-18164.shtml?wap=0&

(42,696 posts)1. Avoid brackish and stagnant waters like some canals and lagoons.
All manner of nasty stuff thrives there.

(1,716 posts)2. Vibrio is nothing new
Most likely to get by eating shellfish in summer.
Keep some neosporin around and apply to all nicks and cuts.
I am in Fl on the water today. Water temp 84 and crystal clear.
No worries.
Just wait for shark week if you like to be very afraid ha ha
Lightening is something to actually worry about.
