Hundreds of young Yazidi women held captive by ISIS and they have "vicious plans" for them

BAGHDAD (AP) — Hundreds of women from the Yazidi religious minority have been taken captive by Sunni militants with "vicious plans," an Iraqi official said Friday, further underscoring the dire plight of Iraq's minorities at the hands of the Islamic State group.

Kamil Amin, the spokesman for Iraq's Human Rights Ministry, said hundreds of Yazidi women below the age of 35 are being held in schools in Iraq's second largest city, Mosul. He said the ministry learned of the captives from their families.

"We think that the terrorists by now consider them slaves and they have vicious plans for them," Amin told The Associated Press. "We think that these women are going to be used in demeaning ways by those terrorists to satisfy their animalistic urges in a way that contradicts all the human and Islamic values."

The U.S. has confirmed that the Islamic State group has kidnapped and imprisoned Yazidi women so that they can be sold or married off to extremist fighters, said a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the information came from classified intelligence reports. There was no solid estimate of the number of women victimized, the official said.

Those poor women, this is beyond horrific. I expect they will be forced to convert to Islam and taken as wives, perhaps second wives. If they don't speak the words of adopting Islam, they will be killed.

If they are ever rescued, they will likely be killed by their families upon their return, perhaps in the public square of their village. To preserve the family 'honor.'

A 2007 Guardian article about how the treatment of women in Iraq has gotten more savage and brutal after the US invasion, during the US occupation (of course it has only gotten worse and worse):
Freedom lost
After the invasion of Iraq, the US government claimed that women there had 'new rights and new hopes'. In fact their lives have become immeasurably worse, with rapes, burnings and murders now a daily occurrence. By Mark Lattimer

My heart weeps for the women of Iraq.

she was a "comfort woman" to the Nazi's The put her in the concentration camp to be used when needed - a 16 year old blonde blued girl. When she went home after the war, people treated her like a sympathizer because she was still alive except for her family. That is why she married an old man when he came to town from the US. Little did she know that crabby people live the longest - he made it 30 more years to died at 94 from drowning in soup she was feeding him when he was sick. She just kept shoveling the sup in his mouth as he was dying. I think she had enough, he was pretty unbearable and I should know we had to live with him for 10 miserable years and I say that as one of his favorite children. we were barely allowed to speak, no noise, had to eat what he ate. like blood sausage and other icky things. If we didn't behave he took it out on my mother. All her fault.
