Hey Joan...here's an idea...why don't you actually try LEARNING about Gaza?

I get it...you're a fading ex-comedian with a cheesy fashion program co-hosted by an old junkie rocker's daughter with weird hair, and you haven't had any feeling in your facial muscles since the first President Bush was sworn in. Life is hard and the days are filled with lonely shopping and skin-ironing. This can make a person a little bitter. And bitter people take out their bitterness on others, most of whom don't deserve it(like when you told JFK jokes at the '84 GOP convention-in DALLAS-or when you spent years insulting Elizabeth Taylor over her weight just because she mattered in Hollywood and you never did). You passed all of that off as "just kidding"-and you were given a pass on that)

Still, there are some things aren't jokes-that have no "context"-that are just cosmically not cool and will always be.

Things like saying "if you're dead, you DESERVE to be dead" about civilian war dead.

Something you just said about everyone who's been killed in Gaza in "Operation Protective Edge&quot btw...how can an "edge" be "protective" What does that even mean?). Including the elderly. Including the children. Including the infants. Including the mothers of those infants.

While you're still breathing...while you still tread the Earth in overpriced designer shows...take this opportunity to learn...to educate yourself...to listen...to try growing a tiny shard of a soul.

There's lots of material out there about the realities of life in Gaza...there are blogs online from people LIVING in Gaza...about people living with rationed food, closed borders, no means of escape from bombings and no means of doing anything to stop the group you choose to blame for the situation.

You're a spiteful, hateful, angry person...but you're not incapable of change. You're not incapable of empathy. You're not incapable of being better than this.

Be better than this. Just take a few minutes to learn the truth.

And remember, seventy years ago, a lot of folks in Europe pretty much said "if you're dead, you DESERVE to be dead"
about ANOTHER group of people. Do you really want to end up sounding like the sort of folks who said THAT?

Real positive change can only happen when enough bigoted old people die.
