James Lipton (on Lawrence tonight): "Robin was Pagliacci"

Tonight on The Last Word, host of "The Actors' Studio" (TAS) James Lipton choked back tears as he remembered Robin Williams, saying "Robin was Pagliacci." Lipton relayed the story of how some time after Williams appeared on the first two-hour episode of TAS, Williams' manager told Lipton that his perfomance on Lipton's show was "Robin's best performance ever." Fans of TAS were asked to vote for their favorite TAS installment and, in the 20 year span of the show, the fans chose the Robin Williams appearance.

Tonio, the main clown, at the end says "the comedy is ended."

Yes, he was a clown that could cry too.

Hawaii is on our short list for my and my fiance's honeymoon next year, if I can put the funds together. It must be an amazing life to be able to live there!

Thanks for the beautiful pic and for going to the trouble of joining Photobucket so you could show it to me!

your honeymoon next year! The Island living is wonderful but in my case and many others.. it's challenging just like anywhere else. But, you do have the beach nearby when you need a calming place.. which is often for me.

I've been wanting to join PB for so long now but never took the time until now.. when I decided.. I'm just going to do it!

Back to Sweet Robin..

A celebrity’s death shouldn’t matter much in the scheme of things. But Robin Williams touched millions of lives via his art. And the manner of his death—probably suicide—and the cause—months of battling severe depression—are epidemics in this country. Sometimes the loneliest place is surrounded by loved ones who don’t understand.

A tribute to Robin Williams
