While we can never condone rioting in Ferguson

It is also an opportunity for police to self-reflect.

What could the police be doing that would be causing people to riot? What could the police be doing to cause people to get angry and lash out? This is a chance for them to look to themselves.

selflessly and heroically defending the peace against a group of savage thugs that want to exploit a tragedy for their own gain and to satisfy their desire for violence.

that's how the media will play this.

It loses the victims the moral high ground, destroys the property of the very people who have been oppressed, and just makes the offended group look bad.
