The Washington Times is, by far, the most doctrinaire RW daily paper in the US. But the RW doesn't always speak with one voice... for instance, if you were so RW you didn't like the RNC chair then you'd love dishing dirt about how disorganized the party is, or how badly they would do in elections. Infighting.
For whatever reason, the Washington Times has featured a lot of solidly reported "Democrats poised to do well" stories as the lead headline (Front page, upper right) that I read with ironic enjoyment.
Candidates lead polls against GOP challengers in Florida, Ohio, Michigan
By Sean Lengell-The Washington Times Sunday, April 8, 2012
While its too soon to know if the Republican wave that carried the party to record victories in the 2010 elections will continue or crest in November, a handful of Democratic Senate candidates are posting strong poll numbers in battleground states dominated by the GOP two years ago giving that party hope that it can hang on to its slim advantage in the chamber.
Incumbent Democrats in Florida, Ohio and Michigan are ahead of Republican challengers in most independent surveys. In Wisconsins open Senate race, Rep. Tammy Baldwin, a Democrat, is polling well against a crowded GOP field.
Republicans say its too early to pay much attention to polls in those states, especially because senatorial primaries are still months away in most. Also, GOP Senate candidates are polling well against Democrats in several other states.
Still, the early Democratic poll success is welcome news for a party still smarting from an electoral smackdown less than 18 months ago, when it lost control of the House, several Senate seats and gubernatorial posts across the country.

(24,331 posts)You have the money faction, which wants deregulation and very little else.
You have the militantly religious faction, which basically wants to end sex and mandate their flavor of Christianity.
You have the paranoid conspiracy-theorist "libertarian" faction which basically wants to make sure the government does absolutely nothing, ever.
And you have the bigot faction which wants to be told that their problems in life are the fault of the blacks and the Mexicans, and feel better about themselves by oppressing someone else.

(26,219 posts)That is about the best description I have seen.
I had been breaking it down into the Country Club set and the Low Information Voters (voting against their own interests) - but I like this much, much more.
Thanks.

(113,043 posts)It really captures the dynamic, though I'd go further with the first since the privileged and corporate elite really control so much of what the others think so it can support and feed into their fascist agenda.

How much have they lost since they began? Is it up to $2 billion yet? Or did they pass that already?
Just a reminder: nobody loses that kind of money unless they're making it up in other ways.

(113,043 posts)since Bushes know they can't run Jeb till 2016 they are fine with the pretense of showing support for Romney this ground.
They fully expect to be back with a chastened GOP voter base who will ignore the horrific outcome of GWBush's terms and compromise anything to win, "Oh please Bushes and Rove, you must run Jeb, we can't win without you."
