(146,281 posts)He was 63 years old. More Sahl was in the previous generation, having been born in 1927. I remember both of them. Each was unique. Equating the two is diminishing each of them. Each is an individual. Each is unique. They should be treated separately and honored for their unique views of society and talent. Both were wonderful and creative entertainers. They should not be compared but treated as unique individuals.
I am 69 years old.

(36,407 posts)He and Mort Sahl became close friends in the last few years, and it would not be unexpected to see Robin Williams in the house when when Mort Sahl did his weekly gig at the Throckmorton theater in Mill Valley (it was the Odd Fellow Hall when I was a kid).

Inspired by Mort Sahl's social conscience, and Johnathan Winters' machine gun ad lib, Robin Williams was a force to reckon with.

(2,959 posts)comparison you might have had something. Also no one, absolutely no one, can wear an alpaca sweater like Mort Sahl. Not even the late, great Perry Como.
