He's always giving the kid the eye like he's going to eat him once his guard is down. I was too rational as a child - I remember thinking there's no way a bunch of monsters are going to be fooled by a kid in a wolf costume - this story is so unrealistic! I also remember a story about some kids who discovered some evil witches living in a cave. Knowing water would destroy them, one of them dressed like a witch and went to the cave during a rainstorm. The other witches asked how she had survived, and she replied that she had learned how to walk in between the raindrops, and she would show them how to do it. Needless to say, the witches were destroyed, but I got to thinking, "No way would witches be fooled by a kid in a costume!"

Henri Rousseau, The Dream, 1910

He showed this piece at the Salon in Paris, the critiques questioned HOW it was possible this woman could be sleeping on her sofa in the middle of the jungle, he answered:

She is NOT in the jungle, she is in her living room, DREAMING that she is in the jungle!!!!

GOD I LOVE ART!!!

peace, kpete
