http://www.berkeleycopwatch.org/

Berkeley Copwatch is the original Copwatch group. We began in 1990 on Telegraph Ave. as an all-volunteer organization dedicated to monitoring police actions and non-violently asserting our rights. Since that time, many Copwatch-type organizations have sprung up across the nation, in various forms. Berkeley Copwatch is based on the idea that WATCHING the police is a crucial first step in the process of organizing. We do not attempt to interfere in police activity or to resist police misconduct physically. It is our hope that, one day, mass outrage at police and government violence will increase to a point where fundamental change in the nature of policing becomes inevitable.

How to Protect Your Phone From the Police

...It's not just Instagram; modern social media sites of all stripes have granted journalists and concerned citizens alike immense empowerment, providing them a great big visual bully pulpit and a potentially unlimited global audience. They also give you a place to park your media that the cops have a much harder time touching.

If you're simply looking for a remote backup of your photos and video, enabling Camera Uploads on DropBox (iOS, Android) is the way to go. Select the Settings option from the Dropbox app on your device, and go to Camera Upload > Turn on Camera Upload. Now, everything that you capture on your mobile device is immediately and automatically shunted over to the cloud...

degrading fast.

Of course cameras aren't the cause but if they are the best cure we have then we are screwed.

The real tool is the vote but there is no will to actually turn this around by curtailing powers, ending the failed drug war, and ceasing to militarize civilian peace keeping so the votes go for the same and more of the same.

I have a dumb phone, but the combination of first being evacuated for fire and having no information and now the Ferguson thing has me thinking that a smart phone would be a good idea. The media trucks were not allowed in the area of 'unrest' in Missouri and I think the cell phones and reporters hand held cameras were very important in getting the news to us. Without that the police could have simply smashed everyone. Will go looking/shopping soon!
