If Asked - Could You Provide A Definition Of What Constitutes A Patriot These Days In The U.S.A.?...

Seems to me that there are conflicting definitions of what a patriot is these days. So I thought I'd ask that question here and see what we at DU are able to come up with as a definition of a 'patriot'. (and I don't mean a member of a sports team)

Much as I hate to give those mooks credit for anything, they have not only succeeded in moving the center to the right, and by extension, once apolitical terms to the right and made them their very own leaves of lettuce in their word salad.

As a result, I say the word belongs in the dustbin of history. Going forward, it should be regarded with humorous scoffing by us whenever it is uttered; much like when you hear wingnuts throw around words like "commie", "socialist", "freedom" and the like. They're just words that ballyhoo what inarticulate droolers they are, and I'm not playing their game.

don't know, my view of what a patriot is, appears to be some kind of delusion. Someone who actually defends the US Constitution as required in the oaths taken by our military and elected officials, someone like Chelsea Manning who was foolish enough to believe that the oath she took was REAL, but what do I know?
