President Obama: No excuse for excessive force by police in aftermath of Missouri shooting (video)

President Barack Obama says there is no excuse for the use of excessive force by police in the tense aftermath of the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, and no excuse for violence against the police.

In brief remarks near his vacation spot in Martha's Vineyard, Obama said he wants an open and transparent investigation of the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown, so that justice is done.

He also said police shouldn't be arresting and bullying journalists who are doing their jobs. Two reporters were taken into custody and briefly jailed Wednesday evening in the St. Louis suburb.

he'd better scour the Justice Department for a couple of hard-assed attorneys and dispatch them ASAP. Experience dealing with the Mafia would be a good prerequisite.

To those who are mad he didn't say what they wanted in the way they wanted:

Get out there and say it. It's your country too.

right words, should have gone to the site of the killing and stood right on it to give this address, also needed to have the family of the dead boy behind him, should have had the national guard air dropped into the town.

He's so weak and evil and caused this!!!

Do I need this?

Wish Obama would have made such a strong, straightforward statement against the militarization of the police. His statement was very weak, and ignored the well-armed elephant in Ferguson. Not even a mention of the armored personnel carriers and police in body armor on the streets of America!

Rand Paul, Elizabeth Warren, Claire McCaskill all made strong statements calling for the police to be de-militarized, why did Obama not?

Are they not even watching their TV screens in Martha's vineyard? How could he not mention the military war-zone pictures we've all seen on our TV?
