Back to the Bricks!! This is the 10th anniversary of this amazing festival celebrating the auto industry. Thousands of cars and hundreds of thousands of spectators from all over the country, and dare I say, possibly the world, will be in Flint, this weekend, cruising, partying and showing off their cars.
Cars have been pouring into town, all week. It's a real treat to see some of these vintage and classic cars doing a slow cruise up Saginaw Street to the red brick road of down town Flint. I bet very few people know that our downtown has been paved with beautiful red bricks, since about 1898.

Next weekend is the Crim 14K Road Race, attracting thousands of runners from all over the world. Then, in September, it's Bikes to the Bricks.
So, here's a view of what's going on in Flint, this weekend. I couldn't be prouder of my birth/home town.

(31,964 posts)I did the Crim 14k back in the 90s. While I was there I met Micheal Moore who was wandering by a bookstore the same time I was.

(26,257 posts)Flint is turning into a great educational center - University of Michigan, Kettering (formerly GMI Institute) Baker Business College, Mott Community College - downtown is now a mecca for students. We have a newly re-located Farmer's Market that is absolutely wonderful. Concerts, festivals, Art Walks, you name it.
Yea, there's still a lot of crime, but we strive to be associated with the great things that are happening.
