"The officers got the wrong man, but charged him anywaywith getting his blood on their uniforms. How the Ferguson PD ran the town where Michael Brown was gunned down. ...."

This is an important factor in understanding what is going on today.

(28,979 posts)How many reposts of any topic do you have to wade through in Google? How many rebroadcasts of the same news footage on CNN? How many times do people repeat any bit of news? That is what you do when you report! Thank you H2O Man for posting stories you think someone needs to see. I did not see this article before. I appreciate that you shared it with me. You added something to the dialogue unlike someone who just has to appoint themselves Thread Monitor and DU Censor Patrol. I am just so sick of people telling others at DU that they should not post what they post, and I have vowed to speak up every time they do in hopes that some of these monitors will get a life.

(73,528 posts)I wasn't offended by my friend noting that it had been posted before. I had looked, but didn't see it. I believe that my posting it could bring more attention to the topic -- which is exactly what happened.
In an interview/article that was published a week after his death, Minister Malcolm X delivered a beautiful line, "Remember this: nobody puts words in my mouth." I always loved that. It implies that no one prevented words from leaving his mouth, either. That is my philosophy, too.

(73,528 posts)In my region of upstate NY, there have been some pretty ugly incidents involving police violence. And, by no coincidence, it usually involved the same officers.

(12,253 posts)Eric Garner's niece is my friend. I have seen the cell phone recording of the confrontation before until his dying breath. He had been known in the neighborhood as the go-to guy for loosies (individual cigarettes) to people who can't afford NYC highly taxed cigs going for $15 bucks for a whole pack. He was well loved by his family and in the neighborhood and by the conversation with the police before they took him down for resisting, he knew his rights. Too bad the police just ignored them.

(10,597 posts)credibility. Zip. And how they handled this case isn't going to set right with a judge either. And besides not handling the current case correctly, it took them how many days to come up with this wild scenario as a defense BEFORE they revealed the name this morning?
I say it's going to be a hot time in Ferguson tonight.
And all it took for this whole thing to start was for Mr. Davis to make a wrong turn, like in a bad horror movie or something. In fact, wasn't there a horror movie by that name?

(24,555 posts)I usually lean toward the positive side with police because I know many and they are good people. These officers are off the charts dirty. I hope the entire department is investigated and shut down if necessary to clean it up. No one should have to live with this crap.
Thanks for the post, H2O Man.

(7,006 posts)Ferguson, MO Police Chief THOMAS JACKSON Must Resign NOW! This is why....
It is a Robbery that is allegedly shown in the still pictures and the video. The video has been released on MSNBC and the entire incident was less than 45 sections.
The Suspect appears in the video attempt to walk out of a store holding the alleged cigarillo's stolen in hand.
The alleged Victim runs in front of the door of the store, allegedly to stop the Suspect from leaving the location with the alleged cigarillo's stolen.
The Suspect pushes the alleged Victim out of the exit door of the store, near a store rack, and immediately let's go of the Victim in less than 10 sections.
The Suspect proceed to walk out of the door with another individual.
The Victim begins to re-approach the Suspect again.
The Suspect turns to the left to re-approach the Victim, however does not re-confront the Victim in any assaultive way. Words are exchanged.
The Suspect turns back to the right towards the store door and walks out of the door with the alleged Cigarillo's, with another individual.
The Victim approaches the door and appears to be yelling out of the door, while holding the door.
The Suspect is not seen again in the video at this point.
NOW....since that is out of the way, the force used by Law Enforcement Official DARREN WILSON in response to this alleged Robbery was excessive! To shoot an Alleged Suspect in a alleged Robbery 8-10 Times in the streets like a DOG for allegedly pushing a store clerk after allegedly stealing Cigarillo's, this action DOES NOT fit the nature of the alleged crime!
Officer DARREN WILSON should be charged with Murder in the First Degree and Police Chief Thomas Jackson MUST RESIGN from the Ferguson Police Department for failing to train his staff in proper procedures in engaging criminal suspects, along with failing to instruct his staff to call for BACK-UP as a MANDATORY ACTION for engaging a suspect in an alleged robbery WITHOUT a WEAPON.
The Force Used DOES NOT FIT the ALLEGED CRIME. In addition, Ferguson Police Chief THOMAS JACKSON must be FORCED to RESIGN for TAINTING the investigation of the KILLING of Mike Brown!
(By the way, this statement is coming from a former law enforcement official, that strongly believe Ferguson Police Chief THOMAS JACKSON has tainted the investigation into the killing of 18-Year-Old Mike Brown).
