Mother arrested after allegedly swearing in grocery store in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA (KGO) --
A mother is facing charges after a witness says she used profanity toward her children at a grocery store in South Carolina.

According to the incident report, Wolf was shopping at Kroger with her kids, going down the bread aisle, when they kept squeezing the bread and that's when she said the word that got her arrested.

A woman who says she witnessed the incident said she saw Wolf use the f-word repeatedly and Wolf started cursing at her after she approached Wolf. Wolf says the woman later said she didn't want her arrested, but it was too late.

According to a law in North Augusta, disorderly conduct generally means, to "utter, while in a state of anger, in the presence of another, any bawdy, lewd or obscene words or epithets."

granted, she should watch her mouth to her kids but this is not something that a mother should be arrested in front of her children for.

to hear 2 teenaged boys cursing up a storm as they chatted with each other. I politely asked the boys to not curse where my kids could hear them. The boys were very sweet. They apologized to us, and one actually squatted down to look my kids in the eye and tell them that they should not have been using those words, either, so my kids should not think it was an OK thing to do.

I like kids--even teenagers. I suspect that the boys picked up on the fact that I was asking as a favor, not demanding and not looking down on them for cursing *or* for being teenagers.

Too often when people approach others in public, they do so in a confrontational way. I am not saying that is what happened here, or that being nice to that mother would have led her to be nice back. But my guess is that the onlooker spoke to the mother in a way that the mother found insulting and intrusive.

OTOH, a mother cursing out her kids so vehemently in public obviously has a short fuse and inadequate control over both herself and her kids.
