There was a young black woman on CNN just now,

she had a run in with the same cop (Wilson) a month before the shooting.Someone maced her and she went into the convenience store to get some water for her eyes, the clerk told her to use milk instead of water and gave her some milk and she started pouring it into her eyes.Wilson walked into the store and asked her "what the fuck she was doing" and when she tried to explain,he told her to "shut the fuck up".He followed her out to her car, took the milk away, made her exit the car and sit on the sidewalk while he ran her name through the computer then let her go. She said she knew which cop it was as soon as she heard about the shooting because he was known to be abusive.

I can't even imagine the rage I'd feel if that happened to my kid.

...was for any non fatal incident reports to be written by the arresting officer. So there are no records of anything except police killings, which they couldn't gloss over because the media knew about them. If they could have swept those under the rug too, I am sure they would have gladly done so.

Disband the police department and contract with either the Highway Patrol, or another Municipality to provide police coverage to Furgeson. There is no way that the current force can every rebuild the trust of the community.

years ago that in cases of excessive force the officer wrote up his own report, showed it to his supervisor and it then went into the police report. They were not putting them in the officer's personnel file.

Or the African American community in Ferguson is SO disenfranchised that the police department pays no attention to what is happening to them at all.

Or both.

Most people who have run-ins with cops never get their names. It takes nerve to ask a cop who's harassing you for his name and badge number. If Wilson's picture gets into the news and if he's been generally abusive we'll probably hear of more cases.

I would think that she might have been left with a despairingly, angry, gratitude in knowing that the odds are that the situation would have been more dire if she was a man.

White people (including myself) have no idea what it is like to know that their husbands, sons, fathers, etc are living with risk because of what they look like.

The fact that I can't makes me respect the anger and demand for justice, though.
