And said that Brown had been linked to a strong-arm robbery of a convenience store just before the shooting.

What the chief said made little sense because he could barely string a sentence -- let alone a thought -- together. He kept referring to notes but I got the distinct impression he didn't know what he was saying, other than making a very poor attempt at CYA. He handed out packets to reporters with a timeline of what happened, which was followed by the release of surveillance cam video that purportedly showed Brown roughing up a clerk.

Now he's coming back at 3. This should be interesting.

Otherwise, the story sounds like complete BS. There should be crime scene pictures that show the cigars, if this is truly the case. But how does having a box -- not a pack, but a box -- of cigars square with Brown's actions when confronted by the cop? It doesn't. Not to my mind.

And Chief needs to be asked about that friend, too.

Now proclaiming that the shooter didn't know the kid was involved in the prior robbery. In which case, the whole shooting evolved simply as a response from the original 'jaywalking', and was a response at 'best' to the kid 'struggling' with him. And we're right back to, first shot maybe possibly 'justified', none of the rest conceivably justified.

Completely undermined their own attempts to cast Brown as a 'strongarm robber' being part of the reason for the shooting.
