Rep. Paul Ryan finds "House of Cards" character Frank Underwood reprehensible.
In an interview with Parade magazine, the Wisconsin Republican said he couldn't watch more than a few episodes of the Netflix political drama series because he was repulsed by Underwood -- a calculating, murderous politician portrayed by Kevin Spacey -- cheating on his wife.
The magazine published this exchange:
Do you watch political shows like House of Cards?
I watched the first couple of episodes until he cheated on his wife with that reporter. It turned my stomach so much that I just couldnt watch it anymore. His behavior was so reprehensible, and it hit too close to home because he was a House member, that it just bothered me too much. And what I thought is, it makes us all look like were like that.

Anyone who is a fan of House of Cards can tell those who don't watch it that Frank cheating on his wife is the least of his "sins".Interesting that Ryan was OK with him other than that.

(27,461 posts)1. i think he's protesting too much
that's an oddly strong reaction to a fictional character cheating on his wife.
I was thinking the same thing...The Underwood character cheating on his wife if the least of the moral issues. In fact, if you know the full season, it really isn't a moral issue at all for the marriage.

with Frank's cut throat morality free claw to the top.

family values is the values of the family you are with now, not the old family where you try and escape child support.

I wonder who told Ryan to say that. Are any of his words his own? Has Frank Underwood kidnapped anybody?

Getting outraged that Murphy Brown had an out of wedlock child. Shows a total lack of perspective.
