One of the quaint things about watching film of the '68 Chicago police riot is how underequipped the police were. Imagine if they'd all had that armor and stuff then.

And if the cops didn't shoot people for no good reason, maybe there wouldn't be a riot in the first place.

Surely you can refresh my understanding with links documenting the thousands of policemen seriously injured in riots? Or maybe you can simply list the hundreds of riots they were trying to put down?

It's just that for much of the last century very few people noticed/cared when the victims were people of color or poor people in general.

The whole idea that there was some wholesome past and we need to get it back is a dangerous road to go down. Because it wasn't as wholesome as that image implies, not unless you were white and middle/upper class. Without looking at the truth of how we got here, we'll never be able to get out of this situation.

Cops exist to enforce and protect private property rights, not to protect and serve the community as a whole.
