Post an example of police racism in your town.

I have two:

City of Omaha reaches tentative $100,000 settlement with Robert Wagner

The City of Omaha has reached a tentative $100,000 settlement with a man who said police used excessive force when they arrested him outside a hospital.

The City Council will be asked Tuesday to approve a settlement with Robert Wagner, who was arrested at Creighton University Medical Center in May 2011. Wagner argued that he was viciously beaten by officers during the arrest and that the Omaha Police Department had failed to properly train its officers.

They were twenty feet away.

The shot a native man who was sleeping in his car in the grocery store parking lot. Said they SAW a gun. Just seeing a Native dude with a gun was enough to shoot. He was asleep, and non threatening.

They pulled me over twice while i was driving. 3 cop cars, one K9 unit, guns drawn. My left tail light was out and i had a hoody on. As soon as I pulled it back, the cops face changed like a mutha. Then he pulled me over the next day again for the same thing as i was on my way to autozone. Officer Rydag.

and raided the office of a tax preparation business that serves Spanish speaking clientele. They seized thousands of files, rifling through them in search of indicators of illegal activity. The ACLU brought suit against the sheriff and DA, and the state deemed the raid and seizure to have violated the constitution. The appeal, alone, cost the county's taxpayers $150K.

That sheriff, term limited in that office, is a candidate for state senate; John Cooke also spearheaded the group of sheriffs who refused to implement or enforce President Obama's gun regulation recommendations after Sandy Hook. He also helped to recall two state senators who had voted for new regulations that dealt primarily with magazine size (a measure that grew directly out of the Aurora theater massacre). He is supported by Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, whose LaPierre wannabe staged a protest across the street from a gathering memorializing those who died in Aurora. Cooke is most proud that his campaign is endorsed by Ted Nugent.

That DA, Ken Buck, is now the GOP candidate for Colorado's 4th congressional district. He lost his bid for the Senate when he bragged that he doesn't "wear high heels", and he told Rachel Maddow that he believes being gay is a disease like alcoholism. He lost his position with the justice department after refusing to prosecute a case; one of those fortunate defendants later donated to Buck's campaign. Buck was required to take refresher courses on ethics, small surprise given that his political mentor was none other than Dick Cheney. Buck is also not friendly to women's issues; in one case, he refused to prosecute an admitted rapist, dismissing the victim as merely having a case of "buyer's remorse."

Both Cooke and Buck benefit greatly from IOKIYAR. The first endorsement listed on Buck's website is Citizens United. And it goes predictably far right from there.

As long as we're here, we have terrific candidates opposing these horrors:

For Congress, we have Vic Meyers www.vicmeyers.com

For state Senate, we have Joe Perez www.joeforsd13.com

If you would care to visit their websites and donate, we would be very VERY grateful.

The actions of these officers who, ironically, hail from president-elect Obama's home district, are tantamount to hate crimes which must be widely publicized, and universally condemned.

As Christina Ballard and Cornelius Voss were on their way home after celebrating Barack Obama's victory, on election day, three youngsters in the back of their car rolled down the window, cheering by calling out Obama's name. Three unmarked police cars allegedly pulled up alongside them, and are reported to have pepper sprayed the youngsters. The officers are said to have used racial epithets, and called for "white power," while spraying them.

When they tried to file a police report, immediately after the incident, Ballard and Voss were given the runaround, so the next day, they turned to the Independent Police Review Authority for redress. A spokesperson for the IPRA would say only that they're looking into these accusations, and that there were "multiple allegations" of law enforcement spraying civilians that historic night, one estimate suggests that there may have been dozens of incidents.
