Concern is that arrival of Nat Guard will further militarize + antagonize tense situation in #Ferguson.

Hope that National Guard, well-trained & new to #Fergurson, will lend restraint + distinguish community protestors from outside agitators..

Tricky Dick had nothing to do with Kent State . . . PROVIDED YOU IGNORE HIS ILLEGAL BOMBING AND INVASION OF CAMBODIA!

Not shouting at you, more at the universe in general.

It's worth noting that civil rights veteran @repjohnlewis called for "martial law" a few days ago. @britrican

Little shout-out for fans of FDR, Harry S. Truman and World War II-era history.

If it was in the bush-cheney coup era.. there would be no national guard.

Can't be too much worse. Guess it depends on what their orders will be. Are they there to help the people or subdue them? My guess is the latter.

14. FPD is not militarized.

They are a small town police department with 43 officers. They haven't played any roll in any of the events we're seeing. There are hundreds of officers from departments all over the metro area in Ferguson, and they are who are involved in the clashes we're seeing. FPD is tending to the rest of their city.

They might be used as security for businesses and hot spots, with law enforcement agencies still being the primary responders when trouble erupts. We'll see.

Cpt. Johnson will need to do another briefing to explain the NG role in the morning so residents know what's going on.
