"Manderson, S.D.- A startling display of police brutality was captured on camera on Friday, Aug. 15th. Officer Becky Sotherland, 32, of the Pine Ridge tribal police screams at a man to get into her vehicle as he lay on the ground helpless and handcuffed.
The man, incapacitated, unresponsive, and unable to get into the vehicle, is hit with a stun gun repeatedly as Sotherland yells at him to get in the car threatening that, Its gonna get you again, referring to the 50,000 volts of electrical current delivered by the tazer.
Sotherland continually brutalizes the man until finally horrified onlookers begin yelling for the assault to stop, telling the officer they will help get the man into the vehicle themselves, as they are disgusted at the scene taking place before their eyes.
Sotherland obviously wasnt using the stun gun as a means of defense, as the man is laying helplessly on the ground handcuffed, rather she is using it as a means of sadistic punishment in an attempt to motivate him to get into her police cruiser as she is seemingly too lazy to simply put the suspect into the cruiser herself."

Missouri Police taser injured boy 19 times
David Edwards and Diane Sweet
Published: Saturday July 26, 2008
KY 3 News' Sara Sheffield reports on an injured teen from Ozark, Missouri who was tasered up to 19 times by police.
Passing motorists called Ozark police out of concern for the teen as he walked along the busy overpass. When the police arrived, the young man was lying on the shoulder of the highway directly underneath the 30 foot high overpass with a broken back and foot.
Doctors believe 16-year-old Mace Hutchinson broke his back and heel after falling, as his injuries are consistent with such a fall. The boy's family does not understand why police would have tasered the the teen 19 times after he was so seriously injured.
The teen's father said that the use of the taser caused Mace to develop an elevated white blood cell count, leading to a fever that delayed the young man's otherwise immediate surgery by two days.

Federal Jury: Police Officers Did Not Use Excessive Force After Tasering Man 19 Times Leading To His Death
May 19, 2009 by jonathanturley
A federal jury in Tennessee ruled that three officers Jason Creagan, Jonathan Mays and Jaime Scruggs did not use excessive force in the death of Patrick Lee, 21, at a nightclub in 2005. Lee was tasered 19 times after he was seen acting strangely outside of a nightclub (ironically named the the Mercy Lounge) and allegedly resisted arrest.
Lee was high on LSD and naked at the time. He died two days later. Police said that Lee was sweaty, making it difficult to control him. They used batons and pepper spray as well. A video was viewed as supporting the familys claim that the police acted improperly. At the time the video was discovered Nashville attorney Tommy Overton stated [f]rom looking at the video for the first time, it looks more like a social event than trying to arrest somebody who was naked and unarmed. I look forward to allowing a jury of everyday citizens of this district to see what I consider is a disregard for human life. More <a href=">here. It does not appear that the jury was affected in the same way (a grand jury earlier rejected criminal charges, though some grand jurors expressed objections to the conduct of the police).

Miami Man Pounds on Doors Screaming for Help When Police Arrive and Taser Him to Death
August 16, 2008 by jonathanturley
Miami-Dade police officers are being accused of excessive force in the death of Kenneth Oliver, 45, who was repeatedly hit with taser shocks. Witnesses called police to report a drunken Oliver knocking on doors and asking for help. The police arrived and, reportedly over the objections of onlookers, shoot him four times with tasers killing him. The case is similar to another recent case, below.
Paul Severence insists that when the police arrived, he told police Hes under the influence, so you guys should be careful. He and others state that the police overacted when Severence did not put his hands behind his back fast enough. They Tased him three different times. They just kept Tasing him. I told the police, Youre going to kill that man, so after they did it a third time, I just walked away, said Severence. He says that he saw an officer then hit him a fourth time.
It turns out that Oliver may have pins in his shoulders that restricts his movement and makes it difficult to put his arms behind him. He also had a heart condition. Oliver had a criminal record, though he recently graduated from Small Engine Mechanic School and had a child on the way.

Man Knocks On Doors Screaming Someone Was Trying to Shoot Him: Police Arrive and Shoot Him
August 7, 2008 by jonathanturley
It appears that Andre Thomas was right. The Swissvale, Pennsylvania man knocked on doors of an apartment complex yelling that someone was trying to shoot him. The police arrived and, when he allegedly failed to comply with their orders, shot the unarmed man with a taser and then, according to witnesses, beat him. He died at a hospital later and an autopsy is planned.
Swissvale officers reported that they stopped Thomas, 37, in front of the apartment building and that he refused to submit to them. They proceeded to hit him with a taser. Witnesses claim that he was forced to the ground and handcuffed and then was stomped on and beaten by police.
