It's typical during times like this. I cannot remember any event where police crowd control or an emergency event like a tornado or hurricane where the no fly zones are not issued.

It's also handy for keeping footage from news helicopters off the television.

Move along, move along. Nothing to see here, especially if you know what's good for you.

I think we all know the real reason, though.

no evidence. Is there any proof police were really shot at? Or bottle rockets?

Sporting Event? Temporary Flight Restriction
SWAT Event? Temporary Flight Restriction
Large Fire? Temporary Flight Restriction
Bundy Ranch? Temporary Flight Restriction
Some rich person is getting married? Temporary Flight Restriction

They even put a TFR over LA when Britney Spears was being transported to a psyche ward.

They can't have those pesky news helicopters catching them doing something illegal can they?

Most news helicopters fly 1500 agl.

Why are they arresting reporters and threatening them with extreme violence? Look at the history of the department. I KNOW the FBI has to be going over everything they can find.

DOJ boss going there, I do believe we are seeing executive restraint being used...but what is going on locally? Well without reporters and public air space, only the authority knows and people that listen in on the scanner. Which is just an open channel.

Amnesty International is there on the ground. I guess people didn't realize how bad this is now.

They want the air space restricted to ghetto birds so there aren't any collisions. Keeping the press out is secondary to that.

National Guard. Corralling the media, making some arrests to make sure the rest of the media is in line, no fly zone so some citizen can't fly his GoPro over the scene...

Seems like preparations to me. I wish I knew what for. I can't see anything good coming.

16. Which means that the micro-drones need to fly below 80 feet.

Personal air space for private use is up to 83 feet and unrestricted. So the micro quad-copters with cams are fair game. They've usually got a 30-40 yard range and an hour of battery life, meaning if the operator stays off the ground (say on the roof of a nearby building), they can keep a high eye.

Hubsan X4 is an excellent model with a camera, runs $50. 720x480 res, uses a microSD (phone type) memory card. Can't stream, but can upload quickly. (Max 2 gig card) They're palm sized, so not easily noticed from the ground when it's loud or noisy and they hover very well.

With two operators, one can be tweeting what is being seen while the other is uploading.

(where are the hacktivists when they're needed?)
