The news keeps saying this, but I haven't seen a single video or image of someone holding or throwing a lit Molotov cocktail. I haven't seen one explode. I haven't seen any fire attributed to one. Is there actually any proof they have been used?

I think it might be some cops who have been relieved of duty but also some out of towners who are trying to ignite the civil war the Bundy-ites have been predicting.
I don't think it's actual residents of Ferguson, I think it's outsiders who find this a prime opportunity to doom the country once and for all. I wouldn't be surprised if they are being secretly bussed in by the you-know-who brothers.
You know the corrupt cops will go way out of their way to make this a victory for themselves and keep the myth of black people are bad alive and kicking... no matter what it takes.

(9,808 posts)I saw 2 photos of fire 4 days old that might have been accelerated, but I don't know if they were Molotovs on a mark or just a flaming couch/trash. (Google image search, Molotov ferguson)
The damn things leave nasty burn scars on pavement, and they're mediapathic as hell -- bright, shiny, attention grabbers. They are to photographers what mirrors are to magpies. I'm not even seeing the shattered glass, much less the burn scars. Either they're using high proof booze (expensive) for their fuel, or they're cleaning them up bright and early in the morning. Or no Molotovs.
Nor am I seeing paint ornaments or glowstixing. If Antifa or BB are "agitating," they're not living up to reputation.
I'm not seeing any of the marks I usually associate with black bloc tactics. I am beginning to doubt the Molotov story. (Not tonight's shooting, though the fact that long guns rather than hand guns makes me wonder...)

(62,444 posts)Apparently they have advanced stealth Molotov cocktails which do not produce any visible flame or smoke!

(7,234 posts)That's not that case, its just a general terminology that they use. That came out during a hearing on the LAPD targeting press during the "May Day" protest a few years ago.

(12,769 posts)I have heard the reporters say they thought they saw a couple being thrown. And it has always been after the police started their bs first.

(2,805 posts)I haven't seen Molotov cocktails thrown anywhere that can be verified as happening in Fergusen.
BTW, where has the right to protest been defined as someone who keeps moving and never stays still? A peaceful protest should include people gathering in a public square and emanating their essence.
The ridiculous idea that protesters can't remain in one spot and be seen/stay as a "presence" to project their ideas became the norm under Occupy Wallstreet. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that protesters can't occupy a public space and stay there as long as they like. The idea that protesting in a public square has become a criminal offense described as 'loitering" is absurd.

(56,582 posts)I have trouble believing people were throwing them but somehow there are no reports of burned cops or protesters (they're pretty indiscriminate weapons) and no shots of burning vehicles (which is what people using them usually aim for).

(9,808 posts)Or just a rock.
Even an eggshell or a Christmas ornament, filled with a flammable with a paper towel wick -- the smallest Molotovs -- would show a big flame in that guy's hand. Think tiki torch, not birthday candle.
You learn to spot them early, because once people start screwing with fire, there's going to be a lot of injuries.

(17,111 posts)However, they were not lit and there was no context to the photos. There are also few of these pictures around.
There are many, many reporters and many types of recording devices on scene. I have yet to see a credicle source showing an attack from a Molotov cocktail or the verifiable remnants of one.
The police said a 'group' of people threw 'many' at the police staging HQ on Monday night. I have yet to see documentation of that.
The police seem to have access to many sophisticated(and unnecessary) military items. I'm sure they can get their hands on state of the art recording equipment to document these attacks. Then they might be able to identify the attackers.
Oh wait! They seem to the aggressors. That would put a dent in that idea.
