I feel like cops don't get that getting arrested as a reporter is good for your career

At least, once you're working for a major news company it is (if you're a stringer, you're on your own). Telling reporters "step back or you will be arrested" is like saying "step back or we will increase your chance of getting a promotion by 50%".

Give it a week and maybe they'll get tired of complying, but so far, that's what they've been doing.

If it was me (and I was credentialed with a big agency), then I'd get myself arrested on purpose. The designated areas be damned. They're clearly unconstitutional but as far as I know the free speech zone paradigm has yet to make it to the SCOTUS in its true form (ie, "can officials restrict people and reporters to certain zones&quot . Any sane SCOTUS would say no as long as the operation of the event being protested went forward.
