*ChutzpahCairo's remarks echoes U.S. warning over its own crackdown on Islamists last year.

Egypt on Tuesday urged U.S. authorities to exercise restraint in dealing with racially charged demonstrations in Ferguson, Missouri - echoing language Washington used to caution Egypt as it cracked down on Islamist protesters last year.
It is unusual for Egypt to criticize such a major donor, and it was not immediately clear why the government would have taken such a step.
Ties between Washington and Cairo were strained after Egyptian security forces killed hundreds of Muslim Brotherhood supporters following the army's ousting of freely elected President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013.
Western allies have voiced concern about the democratic credentials of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the army chief who toppled Mursi and went on to win elections. The United States has, however, continued to provide military and other support to Cairo.

Pot meet kettle, the Egyptians argue. Sadly, they have a good argument.

After Human Rights Watch Report, Egypt Says Group Broke Law
CAIRO The government on Tuesday accused the nonprofit group Human Rights Watch of breaking the law, violating Egypts sovereignty and insulting the judiciary after it issued a report criticizing top officials for the repeated mass shootings of Islamist demonstrators last summer.

Sisi has no room to talk on the subject of restraint and he's not fooling anyone.

(1,638 posts)5. The massacre in Egypt was as bad as or worse than Tiananmen
And now hundreds of political opponents have been sentenced to death. This is more you do it too, so why cant we? BS that oppressive regimes are so fond off. We need to stop giving weapons to countries that turn them on civilians. Any US Human Rights position that doesnt begin with that is morally bankrupt.
