Although I'm unaware that there's nobody in the legal community standing up for the Perry indictment. In fact, I've seen several knowledgeable posts around the internet that as seemingly loose as the standards are for a Texas governor to be held to account for abuse of power, Perry may have accomplished it in trying to subvert an ongoing investigation into executive branch corruption, trying to force an elected official from office, and then vetoing funding of her agency when she declined.

If Perry was all that concerned about who was running the Travis County District Attorney's office, there were other remedies at his disposal besides threats and withholding the office's funding. Perry doesn't impress me as the subtle, nuanced type.

Has that stopped anybody on the internet from commenting?

Others echoed that sentiment, including Jonathan Turley, a constitutional law scholar at The George Washington University: "One of the laws being used is hopelessly vague, the other really doesn't appear to fit."

Not that every lawyer or judge in the country is commenting anyway.

Again, it's not whether the indictment is "sketchy" or not. It's whether Axelrod's weighing in publicly was gratuitous or not. I think he could have kept it to himself.

We all want to comment no matter if we have any competence or not. That is the business model that drives Twitter, FB, DU and a thousand others. Might as well fight the tides.
