. . .and he looked well received by the people he met in front of the cameras. All accounts say so , as well. He's not anywhere as disliked as he is here. The black community, to which he was basically reaching out to there, reveres him like they revere the president. I'm not sure that attitude will survive a refusal by the GJ to indict, however, even though I do feel he's doing what he can to move that process along.

To speak to the substance of what he was doing there behind the public outreach, is hard to do because his actual influence on the GJ process is limited. Still, he can and I think has already exerted some high level pressure on authorities there to include all of the evidence they have in that consideration by grand jurors. Who knows what that will mean in the end?

I certainly like what he did, but people are too smart to let that sway their ultimate opinion and he and the administration will likely not bear up well in that public opinion there, visit or not, if no indictment is handed down - that's the same for any ultimate conviction, as well.

I do think that the visit may go some distance in keeping the public in MO. reasonably confident that the WH and the federal government have their interests at heart. I'm just not sure how far that will go in the end. Will his visit result in ANY shakeup of the police structure or practice there? I don't know. That's important. If nothing changes, he'll rightly or wrongly be tainted with that.

Results are all that will matter. PR isn't a substitute for that at all.

I mean, look at this . . .it's unbelievable . . .

What the Ferguson/St. Louis county police department did while the world watched...

The police have raided the church we were at last night and took ALL the supplies that were donated to give protesters.

Phillip B. Agnew @PhilofDreams_

the police have just surrounded and raided our "safe haven". they are taking all of our supplies: water and tear gas rehab kits.

brittany. @bdoulaoblongata

The police are riding through neighborhoods in tanks shooting rubber pellets and gas and yelling through the speakers "shut the fuck up"

Is Holder doing anything about this? Is there anything he can do? We all hope and want to think so. I certainly don't want to think that he can't although I realize the limits of laws and state/fed boundaries. Screw that, I want my federal govt. to make it better. To make it stop. It doesn't seem to be ending. It looks like it's getting much worse.

. . .talk to me.

am grateful.

Per Rachel, he might have calmed the tone down by virtue of being the head guy from the gov't. I hope so, and rain didn't hurt.
