The lazy media labels them as such, but they're not. The cops dealing with the protesters are from four counties and dozens of cities from around the metropolitan area, as well as state troopers.

Actual Ferguson Police Department officers are wisely kept away from the demonstrations.

and started calling in help during the looting on that first Sunday night after the shooting.

Wilson is FPD, and chief Jackson. We haven't heard from Jackson since the day he released Wilson's name and the store video. FPD have been patrolling the rest of their city, but are not on the road with all the protests.
I'm not defending FPD, I just want DU to know what is going on. The media apparently thinks FPD has several hundred cops, even though they've reported that they only have 53.
