a handy little thing - type in your state and county and see what bang-bang crap your county has. Mine has a land mine truck , a few rifles, and some storage bins - nothing really interesting at our next street demo.

If you are REALLY interested and have the computer software and storage space, here's a site that can give you a spreadsheet of each county and each state. Interesting items, from hospital lights to the most mundane things to the most scary. The Excel download is about 1/2 down the post.

1. Tarrant Co, TX ...

Some radio equipment, some small arms, 3 zodiacs, and other various military accessories.

The standout is 2 MRAPs, which surprises me given the population density compared to my former Johnson Co, which is less populated and still deems it necessary to have one MRAP.

I feel bad for the taxpayers who have to pay for the upkeep on that tank. Bartow County does have a big problem with drugs, meth in particular. They've taken down some pretty big trafficking operations. But I don't think they've ever needed a god damn tank to do it.

5. Napa County, CA vs. Solano County, CA

Napa and Solano are neighboring counties


Along with a few utility vehicles and an armored HumVee, Napa also has two china bowls (7"&8&quot and several china saucers.

And five M-16's.

Compared to Solano County's seventy M-16's (yes, that's Seventy...seven-zero...70)

Sounds like Solano County is preparing for war, while Napa County is preparing for lunch.

I live in a quiet corner of northern MI.

10. 24 .45 pistols, 42 5.56 rifles, 2 7.62 rifles, 24 safety glasses, 200 magazines.

Total police presence in the county is about 600 police employed by 16 towns, the university and cities, 150 sheriff staff. Sheriff's office provides service in the hamlets and unincorporated; university cops send major crimes to city (including, supposedly, starting this year, sexual assault and harassment. Fingers crossed on that last.) Total population of county is 305,000.

I do know there's an armored vehicle of some sort in the county, mostly used for emergency rescue (because flash floods are a reality, armored is heavier and better able to handle flood waters, and had snorkel equip in place) but it doesn't get used much, and last I read, it was "in the shop" with an apparently non-repairable oil leak.
