Ferguson: 'We have nothing but time on our hands' - 'We’re not going to stop until we get justice'

On Friday, a group of protesters released a list of seven demands related to the investigation into Michael Brown's death. If those demands are not met, the protesters are asking college students to participate in a national "walk out" on Monday.

If demands are not met, Russell said his group would continue to protest. If Officer Wilson is not indicted, Russell says protestors will turn to boycotts and other walk outs.

“We have nothing but time on our hands,” Russell said. “We’re not going to stop until we get justice, not only for Mike Brown. For everybody, until the whole system understands that we’re people, and everyone needs equality.”

Members said they are calling for college students to walk out of their classes on Monday in honor of Michael Brown.

“Back in the '60s, they were blessed with the pleasure to exercise their rights by sitting in,” said St. Louis rap artist and coalition member Tef Poe. “We want to exercise our rights by calling for a walk out.”

This is the list of demands:

1. Swift and impartial investigation by the Department of Justice into the Michael Brown shooting and an expanded Department of Justice investigation into the patterns of civil rights violations by police across North St. Louis County.

2. Immediate arrest of Darren Wilson

3. County prosecutor Robert McCulloch stand down and allow a Special Prosecutor to be appointed.

4. Fire Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson

5. Accountability for police practices and policies, including effective civilian review regarding shootings and allegations of misconduct

6. “Immediate” de-escalation of militarized policing of protestors to protect constitutional rights

7. Immediate release of individuals who have participated in protests and exercised their right to assemble and protest.

And it DID NOT.

All the parents of Michael Brown are asking for is due process. That is what Trayvon Martin's parents asked for. Trayvon Martin's parents called for calm no matter what the verdict was and there were protests but no riots, no vandalism, no wholesale civil unrest.

The way things are progressing in Ferguson I think no matter what happens with Darren Wilson, there will be more protests, more organizing, more efforts to change things, but I seriously doubt there will riots. For one thing, the police have now learned that if THEY don't escalate the tension, the protestors will remain peaceful. And from what I am seeing the community leaders have taken the steps to stop the vandalism and destruction.

It has been very interesting watching the evolution of a new Civil Rights movement in Ferguson. May it continue to grow and may it have a long life and strong influence in this country for all our sakes.

witnesses to the event appear to have similar stories ... yes, there are discrepancies that are very typical of people witnessing that level of violence (noting most human beings are traumatized by such a thing).

Had I witnessed such a thing, my assumption would be that there would be an indictment

McCullough wouldn't indict a cop even if he committed cold blooded murder live on TV and then bragged about it to the camera.
