World peace to go on vacation? He is after all, the President. The man who is responsible for EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE. If a fight breaks out on my corner, the President has to stay at his desk and resolve it.

He's golfing and people are dying. When are people NOT dying? He's in Martha's Vineyard rubbing elbows with the rich and famous while racial injustice is rampant. When is racial injustice Not rampant? He made a moving speech about the murders in Ferguson and Iraq . . . Then, he went back to playing golf.

What the fuck do people want him to do?! He has to do everything with no help from Congress, and what he does do is never enough, or he thinks he's a king. He's not dressed properly too. I voted for him twice, and now I just want him to survive the next two years to pass the gauntlet onto a President more to America's liking. One who never takes a vacation, solves all of the world's problems, and knows how to dress properly.

at the same point in their presidencies Bush had taken 381 days vs Obama has taken 138 days.

I do wonder what would happen to our perceptions if the media just did not cover the golf games. I am beginning to think the photos of the president playing golf are causing a lot of this nonsense.

Apparently, only presidents with an "R" after their name are allowed to take vacations and dress how they please without criticism. They can go anywhere they want, and for as long as they want. Democratic presidents, not so much.

5. I think the golf course is a rather private and peaceful place

where he can make and receive phone calls, get bulletins on his tablet, and try to look as though nothing is wrong.

It's a good place to think. And I bet his mind isn't on golf, it's just that familiar motions help him to see things more clearly....

I get some of my best ideas when I'm working on something that has nothing to do with what I'm thinking about, it could be cooking, gardening, cleaning, etc., things that require little concentration while my brain is somewhere else.

Doesn't anybody else experience problem-solving in this way?

Yes indeed. I am a scientist (physicist) and i have had some of my best insights into thorny problems when walking with my dogs in the forest behind my home.
One of my colleagues sit in a confortable chair and listen to classical music when thinking through a difficult problem. Many of my students have told me ( and i suspect most of us have experienced it ) that going to sleep on it also helps. You wake up with a clear mind and it hits you in the shower or on your commute..

I actually think golf is a good temporary escape to the woods for somebody in a high-pressure job with a lot of responsibility; it's therapeutic.

I have issues with the administration, but give the man a break. He isn't taking every other day off like Shrub or Congress.
