Obama: “When people harm Americans, anywhere, we do what’s necessary to see that justice is done.”

I am so tired of bullshit rhetoric. Just lay out your justification for war. Save the slogans and the appeals to emotion. Stop lying about your objectives: The US armed forces were not in Afghanistan just to fight Al Qaeda, we weren't in Libya just to prevent a massacre in Benghazi, we aren't doing air strikes now in defense of Erbil just to protect American personnel and facilities. Give us an estimate of how many innocent bystanders will be killed if you do what you are planning to do. Talk about the risk of a regional conflict developing. Give us an estimate of many American soldiers will die if we do what you are planning to do. Talk to us like adults.

or Israeli bulldozers during a demonstration against illegal settlements. Then, we just turn our heads and ignore it, because it's not useful as a propaganda tool to help us start a war.

Sometimes when you are playing poker you should not show your hand until necessary. This seems to be more of the approach Obama takes. Can you imagine all the spin and crap which would be on the 24 hour news? Look at all the crap after bin Laden was dead. Most of the world does not understand what happens also.

and an estimate of the time needed to achieve that "victory."

I'd also like a list of all the president's advisers on this matter who were members of the PNAC.

I marched against the war for oil, and hated the whole Iraq debacle. This seems different to me. I understand that the POTUS is appealing to the people, but what about the rest of the world? I doubt that the Saudies or Quatar would follow his lead, because I think they are funding ISIS.

Still, if all we hear about ISIS is only half true, we are dealing with a growing group of young indoctrinated killers. Not only that, but they are having Western passports and nationality. "Got money, will travel." Thus an appeal to the Western powers might be the better thing to do.

Since the Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq are still fighting each other, let us just protect the Kurds and their area.

Oh well, I might be wrong in this. It would not be the first or last time, but I would hate for any country - including the US - to go through something even half as bad as 9/11.

Whereas our previous, repeated overseas blunders indicate otherwise.

Seeking the American government’s analysis of the 9/11 attacks, most people look to the 9/11 Commission Report. There is, however, another report that commands equal attention: the Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001.

President George W. Bush censored 28 pages of this report—an entire section said to describe the involvement of specific foreign governments in the attacks.
