Wilson Supporters - The 7 zillionth post about Ferguson

Last edited Sun Aug 24, 2014, 10:54 PM - Edit history (3)

It's difficult to believe that Wilson supporters are calling foul. They state he has been tried in the press, the media is bias against him, he did what he had to do, his side of the story is not getting airplay, etc.

The problem with all their complaints is that nothing has been stated by Darren Wilson. Even the information shared by the Ferguson Police Department has been minuscule. It's hard to give someone fair air play when nothing is being said.

It's been two weeks and one day since Michael Brown was killed. The only things we know from Wilson or the FPD is:

Darren Wilson shot at least 6 bullets into Michael Brown.
Darren Wilson shot multiple times without regard to anyone in the area, putting one bullet into a house.
Darren Wilson did not call for backup
Darren Wilson did not report the shooting
The Ferguson PD found out about the shooting (or claimed not to have known) after the St Louis County PD did. The St Louis PD found out from TV.
Darren Wilson walked around, obviously unharmed, for at least an hour before he was sent off by the Ferguson PD
The Ferguson PD left Michael Brown's body lying in the road for at least four hours. They chased away his mother and uncle and others that tried to cover his bleeding body.
Darren Wilson did not file an incident report
Darren Wilson went into hiding.
A friend of Darren Wilson's had initially claimed to have witnessed the shooting and only came clean after being called out on the fact she wasn't there.
Darren Wilson, the Police Department and Wilson's supporters allowed horrible, racist, disgusting comments to remain on their gofundme page. Though they claimed they would disable comments and that they were deleting negative comments, the comments remained up for days.
Darren Wilson and his supporters, for days, allowed the lie to circulate about an "orbital fracture," using that to claim he was attacked by Michael Brown.
Darren Wilson, the Ferguson PD, for days, allowed the lie to circulate that Wilson was aware Michael Brown was just involved in a "strong armed robbery." This was used to excuse the excessive force.
Both the lie about the "orbital fracture" and the "strong armed robbery" were debunked by others doing research.
The "robbery" has still not been verified to be a "robbery." The store owner did not report the incident at all. Ever.
While having their press conference and playing "I Spartacus," Wilson supporters claim they're not being treated fairly yet offer NOTHING to justify, explain why Wilson shot Michael Brown. They even state they will not talk about the details yet claim they are being treated unfairly about the facts.
The Wilson supporters were so disrespectful of what happened, an 18 year old lost his life, his parents lost a son, that they held their rally and press conference to coincide with the one week anniversary of the shooting, almost to the minute.

It's difficult to believe that deadly force was the only choice. The Wilson camp is not helping itself with its silence. Even if you take out all eyewitness testimony and are only left with what has been shared and not shared by the Ferguson PD and Wilson, everything seems suspect.

I want the truth. The Ferguson PD and Wilson make it hard to believe truth will ever be told by anyone in an official capacity. I think the best we will ever have is the eyewitness testimony that is currently known. An 18 year old was murdered for jaywalking.

I think Holder will actually have a better chance of prosecuting in this case. Well, in the case of the Ferguson PD. The charges for "bleeding on the uniforms" helps the DoJ a great deal.

had failed to sufficiently respect the cop's "authoritah."

Kissing the cop's fanny wouldn't have guaranteed Michael Brown's survival, but it is what the cop felt Brown should have been doing, and he was p***ed because the young man didn't submit ostentatiously enough.

I believe that when he slammed open the door and it bounced off Michael and back at the cop, the cop either bumped his face on the door or on the car frame as he leapt out of the car to attack Michael. That sort of pain is sharp, though temporary. We have all had the experience of stubbing a toe, or smacking our elbow, face, or head into something hard, etc.

When it happens, we see red. We jump around screaming and roaring curses. A lot of people throw things, and some punch or kick the offending walls or furniture (thus hurting themselves even more, of course).

I think that is precisely the mental place Wilson was in when he started shooting at Michael. And when Michael didn't immediately submit, that just stoked the cop's blind rage, prompting him to chase the kid down and continue shooting until he had him completely "subdued."

Who knows--maybe the cop uses steroids, too. A lot of them do these days. If so, that would have exacerbated the rage.

Because Wilson apparently has a history of harassing black people, whether they were completely innocent or not, and because his town's cop culture deliberately targeted blacks for harassment and nothing was ever done to reign in any sort of abuse of black citizens, there were no ingrained checks on his impulsive reactions when he became enraged in the presence of a young black man.

Furthermore, cops all over the country know with a high degree of certainty that they will not suffer any consequences for abusing their authority, especially if their victims are black or brown, and that sense of immunity just reinforces any natural tendency the cop might have toward racism and brutality.

In the first season of True Detective, the character played by Matthew McConaughy tells a young woman, "I am dangerous. I can do terrible things to people with impunity."

I do believe that an awful lot of cops think that way, and that sense of their own unrestrained, unaccountable power goes to their heads, especially when they deal with minorities.

on the door. Hadn't thought about that. There's no doubt he shot him because Michael Brown didn't immediately do as he was told and get out of the road. Wilson came back, in reverse, to deal with it and he was obviously pissed at that time.

We need to rein in cops and their weapons. The shooting of Mr. Powell in StL was nothing short of murder. After speaking with some friends in the UK I was told that cops there would have just taken him, no problem, and no one hurt.

to see what was in his system. The Washington post article had a quote from someone who worked with Wilson at what sounded like a second job (security guard). Wilson was supposed to show up for work that night, but called in due to the shooting. What kind of drugs is Wilson on to keep him going for several hours at a time?

Your questions? The ACLU requested the incident report. It was not written until 10 days after the incident and it was not filed by Wilson.

The dispatch recording states that "the Ferguson department didn't know anything about it"

I gave you links for both and I gave you information where to find more. What more do you want? These are facts.

being tried in the press (ignoring the fact that that's hardly true), not getting to tell his side of the story, etc., they don't give a sh*t about the irrefutable, irreversible fact that Michael Brown will never get a trial, nor will he ever get to tell his side of the story, because Darren Wilson appointed himself judge, jury, and executioner . And he decided to convict.

The unbelievable lack of compassion, of any sense of the reality of the situation, of the "how dare anyone question why a young life is gone" mentality, is reprehensible. Although there is no question this is a racist society and a police department wrought with racial problems, it is also the "cops can do no wrong" ideology that permeates small town America that has to end. Especially with the militarization of every PD.

I hope beyond hope that the Brown family has peace at least for today.

as their official bumper sticker. Not to mention their blatant warmongering abroad, and, with this rampant militarization of the police, at home.

And still they got approximately 47% of the vote. The implications of that are truly disturbing and should have given us a clue as to the resurgence of a particularity ugly underbelly of this nation.

It's so sad that so many people are intimidated by someone smarter than themselves. I seriously think that's why a lot of "folks" voted for Bush. The old, "He'd be fun to have a beer with!", mentality.

You'll love this one: my Republican sister claims--and she says this out loud--that she voted for Bush because she likes his mother. Good grief!
