Gen. Martin Dempsey, America's top military officer, told a press briefing this week that the mere existence of ISIS is clearly a problem that had to be addressed.

Demspey noted that destroying ISIS will require "the application of all of the tools of [U.S.] national power diplomatic, economic, information, military."
In fact, as counterterrorism expert Brian Fishman explained, truly defeating ISIS would require full-scale war that would involve fighting in both Iraq and Syria.

(82,849 posts)The only answer is all-out war. Again. Never mind those last two or three or six wars. THIS time, we know what we're doing, and we'll be all wrapped up in, well, maybe not six weeks, but I doubt six months. Won't cost a dime, because we'll make the newly-liberated Iraqis pay for it. Oh, and the job creators are going to need another tax break, so they can, you know, create jobs. Like last time.
Just like last time. Everybody remember how excited "shock and awe" was? How about that whole "Mission Accomplished" deal? Everybody was soooo happy.
