https://autos.yahoo.com/news/cars-being-abandoned-left-qatar-133031192.htmlIn recent years, Qatar has been hit hard by a growing trend of abandoned vehicles littering city streets. From your average clunker to ultra-rare Jaguar XJ220s (seen here), residents of the tiny nation which is smaller in size than Connecticut (only 4,467 square miles) have bore witness to the rapid growth of renounced autos.
According to Qatars The Peninsula, there are a few reasons behind the phenomenon. Many residents attribute the trend to the countrys steady population increase, while others chalk it up to owners facing huge traffic violations, a default on their credit payments, or fees attributed with proper disposal of used cars....
So far, the government has removed more than 10,000 vehicles from the city of Al Khor in northern Qatar, with more than 12,000 vehicles hauled away nationwide, according to an April article from Qatar Living.

(111,121 posts)stored in the 10 car garage, you'd abandon the one that was a lemon and spent the most time in the shop if you could, you could just buy a new one.
Or you'd buy a new one every year and it doesn't pay to sell the old one because there is no market for it.
Some smart entrepreneur could make a fortune off Qatar's "junkers." Maybe this article will find its way to an enterprising gearhead with money.

(5,946 posts)my ex did not believe in spending more than $100 on a car, so they tended to not last long. When the car broke down or was in an accident, he would take off the plates and walk away. The state would then dispose of the car with the unknown owner. Isuppose you can't do that anymore with better checking on VINS with computers and all.
t cost money to tow cars and my grasshopper, could waste a lot on booze, but not on responsiblity
