Is "Nickelback" Canadian for "Nickel Bag?"

Last edited Tue Oct 13, 2015, 09:40 PM - Edit history (4)

Consequence Of Sound.net ...Kootenai County (Idaho) sheriff’s deputies stopped two men, 23-year-old Eric Swinford and 22-year-old Riker Morrow, at a gas station after officers thought they overheard the pair discussing marijuana. While the two men claimed to be talking about another car “blasting Nickelback”, officers instead heard “nickel sack”...(T)he officers were probably thinking of a “nickel bag”, which is approximately $5 worth of marijuana...

What followed was a tense and awkward detainment, which was all captured on video by Morrow’s cell phone. Officers were unpersuaded by the Nickelback alibi, calling it a “bullshit story”, and then proceeded to interrogate the two and search their vehicle. As The Washington Post points out, “the audio seems to indicate that (a deputy) drew his gun just before pulling one of the men from the car and handcuffing him"...

Watch the entire incident...And remember: check yourself before you talk about post-grunge in front of cops.

There really is a rock band named Nickelback...they're Canadian, so there might be a language barrier. But suppose the cops had been right -- what if Nickelback is actually a secret code word?

For all we know, they give away a free bag with their premium fan club memberships, or to everyone who has bought one of the 30 million albums they've sold -- so let's not be so quick to trash the cops on this one!

Canadian broadcast stations are required to broadcast a high percentage of Canadian content. This means that Canadian acts, not only Nickelback but Bieber and Celine Dion as well, are way overplayed.

endorses Nickelback, including the use of tasers, CS gas, papper spray, rubber bullets, and riot batons. Any assembly concerning Nickelback on US soil must be dispersed at all costs. This Canadian shit rock is a threat to the soverignty of the United States and must be contained on the other side of the Canadian border.

To be titled No Fixed Address. DEFINITELY don't mention that around a cop -- you might get busted for drugs AND vagrancy!

This may come as news to you: a new fun hobby is to stir up some shit with the cops, record it with a video camera then post the video to YouTube. (For extra entertainment, go to YouTube, search for "Free Keene," then notice he has two basic video types up there: him jerking around with the cops who pull his ass over for driving on the public highway with a homemade license plate, or him going to court to have full-blown trials for parking tickets.) Noticing that these guys were ready to start recording the second the cop got there, but for some reason they "forgot" to record the nickel sack-or-Nickelback exchange, my guess is these guys drove around until they found a place where there were cops, pulled in, got their camera ready, then started talking about a "nickel sack" at the top of their lungs until the police came over.

especially not to minorities.

I think the story is legit -- if they REALLY wanted to deliberately "stir up shit with the cops", they would have mentioned Anthrax or Slayer or Megadeth or My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult!

...and that was some horrible shit, in a class of its own.

I know this is a little off-topic of the OP, but, who the fuck buys this crap?

Especially annoying was the one called "Rockstar," which features cameos of different people, both famous and not, lip-syncing the words - including the likes of Gene "I'll sell anything or anyone out for a buck" Simmons as well as the Motor City Chickenhawk, Ted "The Ped" Nugent.

I'd always heard bad things about Nickleback, but never before bothered to listen to any of their, uhhhm, "music."

Now I understand.
