Far more Massachusetts Democrats would vote for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton than Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) in 2016, according to a new poll released Monday.
The poll, by Suffolk University and The Boston Herald and flagged by the Boston Globe, found Clinton has the support of 55 percent of Massachusetts Democrats while just 17.5 percent said they would vote for Warren in a presidential contest. Vice President Joe Biden, who has also indicated interest in running for president in 2016, has 7.75 percent support, the poll found. Another 12.25 percent said they were undecided.

(14,733 posts)We've got Sherrod Brown, and although he'd make a great President, I'd hate to give him up as my Senator.

(32,074 posts)If she was my Senator, I'd want her to stay one. Also, she has vehemently said she isn't running. I suspect that is being taken into account by many of the people who were polled. I would not want to vote for someone who doesn't even want the job.

(25,908 posts)Sherrod Brown announced recently that he has no interest in either the top or the #2 position. He says campaigning would detract from his senatorial duties; he makes a very good point.

(83,654 posts)She is my Senator! And,yes we like her where she is. She's taking names and kicking ass.
And she knows her own mind...she has said no repeatedly. What is it about the word no that some people don't get?

(27,247 posts)Present progressive tense, not future tense, which means that there is an open should she decide to exercise that option. At this stage, no one is running.

(9,527 posts)Polls this far out are pretty useless, especially given that Iowa and New Hampshire have the first primary/caucus positions.

(1,290 posts)And at no point in 2006 were Hillary's nationwide numbers anywhere close to where they are this year. I think the reason people are staying away from 2016 is that, from a pure polling standpoint, Hillary is absolutely running 20-30 points ahead of where she was at the same point in the 2008 cycle.

(46,585 posts)Obama was waaaay behind in polling at the end of 2006. Plus don't forget Hillary had huge name recognition, a giant pile of cash, and was at 50% before she took off her coat - and still managed to lose. Lots of variables to consider.

(6,393 posts)We lost Kennedy a few years ago and ended up with Brown.
We got Warren but lost Kerry to become SOS.
We managed to Markey in there.
We had two senior senators working for us with connections, status and pull built over decades and now have two senators without all of that, though they have their own place in things.
We're not looking for more special elections and all the crap. We got in the senators we wanted, we're happy with them. RECRUIT ELSEWHERE.
