that we should legally change the name of human beings to be called "guns" under the law.
since our constitutional protections of guns are so superior to those protecting human beings, just rename people, especially children as "guns", then maybe they'll finally get a right to eat, shelter, health care, etc. or heaven forbid, the gun might perish.

In another setback for California's tough gun-control laws, a federal judge ruled Monday that the state can't require gun buyers to wait 10 days to pick up their newly purchased weapon if they already own a gun or have a license to possess a handgun.
U.S. District Judge Anthony Ishii of Fresno said the 10-day wait for current gun owners is a restriction on constitutional rights that isn't justified by safety concerns. He noted that all firearms purchasers, including second- and third-time buyers, must pass a state background check of their criminal and mental-health records, but said it was unreasonable to make gun owners wait the full 10 days to acquire another weapon.

(120 posts)I wonder if the judge will be thrown off the bench after it happens a few times.

(16,974 posts)If I already own a gun why would I have to wait 10 days to get another one.
At least the judge showed common sense. What an idiotic feel good measure and some people are so gullible to agree this is going to do anything.

(2,337 posts)It's nothing but a "FUCK YOU" to gun owners, as it has exactly ZERO practicality.
If someone already owns a gun, why should they have to wait 10 days to obtain another sometime down the road? It's nothing but BS masquerading as "action".
Good ruling on the judge's part.

(12,778 posts)I am operations manager for a gun store in my state. We have a 7/8 day waiting period, and believe me, I love it.
Local checks find things that the national checks miss. Gun owners commit felonies ALL THE TIME. Owning a gun should not supersede the background check.
And these background checks save my job daily.
I do not want to be the guy that just sold a gun to someone with a new felony record.
I have had potential buyers come in to make a purchase AFTER LEAVING THE COURT ROOM, hoping to make a quick purchase. I am not kidding about this.
And this ruling jeopardizes the laws in my state.
I am not happy with this. And neither are the more conservative members of my staff. We feel e have good, middle of the road gun laws. nothing knee-jerk in either direction. Just sensible waits, and reasonable restrictions.
No mandated NR fucking A trainings (why give them money?). No ineffective mag restrictions. No (it looks scary) bans.
Just laws that help me sleep at night, and make my job better.
let's keep the 7 day wait, please.

(52,150 posts)I am presuming the wait is to make sure the check is complete and there are no pending items. It seems that this would open a loophole permitting a person to get an order against them at 1pm, go buy a new gun at 2pm and not have that gun taken away.
