Which is more important TODAY?

Meanwhile, as you're arguing over whether or not Clinton should be our nominee, what are you doing to get Democrats elected in 2014? Because I don't see DU doing hardly anything about 2014.

http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/six-consistently-close-races-will-probably-decide-control-of-the-senate/

Dan Sullivan won the Republican nomination for Senate in Alaska on Tuesday night, finalizing our cast of Democratic and Republican candidates for the most competitive Senate races in November. Republicans, despite some close calls, nominated candidates mostly in the mainstream of the GOP, avoiding the fringe candidates who have hurt the party’s electoral prospects in the past.

Republicans look likely to pick up seats in Montana, South Dakota and West Virginia — putting the party within three seats of the majority.

The map right now is simple: Control of the Senate will be decided in Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana and North Carolina. Republicans must win at least half of these races.

Yet, we still can’t say with much confidence who will win the Senate. These are tight races.

Why won't you discuss 2014? Is this a managed distraction campaign I'm seeing with all this 2016 angst?

I would place much stock in the silence though ... the loudest voices on this board, typically describe themselves as Democratic, only as their 3rd or 4th political descriptor ... while claiming to be/represent the Democratic base.

People complaining about posters talking about 2016 is like men complaining to women to stop talking about feminist issues.

People talk about EVERYTHING. Just because you don't see it discussed to the level you want, doesn't mean that it's not happening.

Most people get involved in dozens of topics in their daily lives and do many things. Talking about 2014 one day, 2016 the next or whatever else.

Because it gets fucking tiring that when people are involved in a 2016 thread, there's always this element that pops in and complains and complains that we're not focused on what they want to be the top subject. It gets tiring.

you are able to make that observation; but fail to recognize what you are doing ... i.e., being that element that pops into a "2014 is more important than 2016" thread, complaining that we're not focused on what you want to be the top subject.

And every two- or four-year cycle in which we fail to elect a progressive majority just makes the next even more criticalerer.

Conservatism is a cancer against which we must always remain vigilant.

In political terms, 2016 is still far away. We don't know for certain whether Hillary Clinton will run for office or Elizabeth Warren and others won't.

Having Democrats in as many elected positions as possible is extremely important, and with mid-terms right in front of us, 2016 can wait.

should be priority #1 until it actually occurs. There is no calling greater than making sure Hillary Rodham Clinton is never the Democratic nominee for President.

I have no means, economically or in terms of being able to go elsewhere, to make a difference in 2014. There's no reason for me to not be focused on 2016.

That's what I meant by "I have no means, economically or in terms of being able to go elsewhere, to make a difference in 2014."

I'm broke, have no time, and am stuck here in suburban CT.

Debating 2016 is moot. The situation will change so greatly that any plans made not will be useless.

who has serious residency issues in Alaska. Hopefully, his downsides (which are many) will be enough to keep Mark Begich in office. Alaska's saving grace, and what always makes our elections interesting, is that there are more nondeclared voters than Republican and Democrats combined. It's anybody's guess how this will turn out.
