Either this guy has gone totally ideological and thrown all sense of impartiality out the window, or he's just incredibly, incredibly stupid.
Having seen his past instances of "reporting", however, I would suspect the latter.

He's a Brit, working for Russian state media, who for whatever reason felt it wise to don the uniform of pro-Russian paramilitary in a separatist warzone.
He's also a huge idiot, which I think pretty much explains it all.
