Men are just that way - cat calling OK

and these women agree:

"It's good."

"Let men be men."

"Men are gonna be that way, what can you do? They mean it in a nice way."

"When I was younger I didn't like it, it used to bother me, I was like 'oh, this is so sexist..."

Wait. Wait. Maybe we spoke too soon. Maybe the discussion is turning a corner.

"...now I'm like, if it doesn't happen I'm like, 'EXCUSE ME!?' So now it's good."

Why should I support a site that gives so many egregious sexists a platform for their bullshit?

I refuse to support a site that allows me, as a woman, to be harassed by men and the women that support that behavior.

Until I was selected for your jury. That one in particular reeked of that mindset.

As long as it continues - I'm keeping my sig line as is and behaving that way when necessary.

After all - Queen Bees will be Queen bees.

Kind of o.t. - but Drunen Irishman posted about a woman being cruel to him when he's been working really hard on himself. Earlier this month I think. The same "group" we're pretty harsh on him - and to me - he's a sweetheart.

Some folks at DU have ZERO heart space. Hurt people enjoy inflicting "pain" on others. Angry people take an intense sadistic pleasure in that.

Just a train of thought about what I think we are dealing with here. It's my personal perception that we have some insidiously cruel people posting among us.

Start from there - proceed as necessary.

that when men stop noticing you, then it's time to worry. This is a female therapist too. Well, the men have stopped noticing, and I couldn't be happier! Somehow I just don't think I'm on the same wavelength as her.

what a drag. It stopped for me in my late 40s when I gained lots of perimenopausal weight and started wearing my boyfriend's cargo shorts and tshirts. My hair is greying and I don't wear makeup. I love it.

in my sheltered midwestern upbringing, nobody ever seemed to think it was OK to harass women like that. I certainly didn't do it, my friends didn't do it, and I'm pretty sure that most of us would have instinctively viewed it as ugly low-life behavior.

You think catcalling is okay or even good?

No, it's not. It's not. I spend a lot of time in public. Every day I get this shit, from men telling me to smile, offering me food and attention, to calling me a bitch if I don't respond or the ever-flattering "suck my cock."

No, just fucking leave me alone. What is damned hard about that? I don't give a shit if some dopey Fox News contributor said it's okay. She doesn't speak for me any more than Phyllis Schlafly does. I don't need her shit and I don't need your shit.

I saw nothing in what you posted that suggested you were mocking the things you posted, so I can certainly see how someone could assume you were simply posting something with which you agree. I'd be more careful in making it plain you're posting something you do not agree with in future.
